Fishing Methods

Trolling

There is no better way to fish some of the bigger waters in the area. Our boats are equipped with the necessary safety equipment and the latest technology for fishing. These boats fish up to 3 or our river vessel can accommodate 2. Using down riggers to get your presentations down in the water column allows use to target those lunkers of the deep. We also use planner boards to be able to get a good spread and also get out presentations away for the boat which might spook skittish fish. Trolling is the most common way we fish on the big lakes in the area. It is very relaxing and involves little effort from guests, until they are battling a strong willed trout on the other end of the line. The Columbia River system produces some massive Bull Trout and Gerrard Rainbow Trout which are the largest sub species of Rainbow Trout on the planet. It is not uncommon to catch trout in the 10 lbs range and some much, much bigger.

Spin/Gear Fishing

Gear / spin fishing is a great alternative to fly-fishing. It’s much easier to master and requires far less time to catch fish. Spin fishing is a great way to sharpen your skills. It will allow you get your lure into the strike zone, with long casts that allow you to cover lots of water. There are many different methods of retrievals suited to multiple spoon, spinner, float and even jig setups. Guests will also be able to fish more water without having to learn the tricky nature of fly-fishing casts. Spin Fishing is great for children, novice anglers, or those looking to catch more fish. A great choice for the entire family.

With many small mountain lakes with great views only a short trek from town. Ice-Fishing opportunities are an awesome way to pass the time during the short winter days. Revelstoke Seasons

Spring

APRIL-EARLY JUNE

The larger lakes have incredible Bull Trout fishing. Fishing near any creek mouth will be productive with fish feeding in these area’s. The smaller lakes are now ice free and the Rainbow Trout feed heavily after a long winter. The Columbia is low, concentrating all fish. Rainbow Trout and Bull Trout are plentiful on their migration back into the river system.

Summer

MID JUNE-AUGUST

Lakes are starting to warm up and the Trophy Rainbow Trout and Kokanee start to group up and feed. Creek mouths that feed the larger lakes can hold a ton of fish with all of the spring run off. Spring run off brings feed to the lakes and the fish sit there with their mouths wide open!

Fall

SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER

This is the time of year when the Kokanee start running, big Bull Trout are out chasing the schools and filling their bellies full for the oncoming winter. Some of the best fishing of the year is during this season with large numbers of fish in the river systems and lakes.

Winter

FEBRUARY-MARCH

Winter fishing has its challenges, from cold weather, rough waters and snow. For the hardcore fisherman, that is looking to catch a fish of a lifetime, braving these harsh conditions can truly pay off. With some of the worlds largest Rainbow Trout reaching massive sizes, up to and exceeding 30 LBS (15KG) and some Bull Trout reaching 20+ LBS (10KG) it can be well worth it.

"Lots of people committed crimes during the year who would not have done so if they had been fishing. The increase of crime is among those deprived of the regenerations that impregnate the mind and character of the fisherman."

Herbert Hoover
